OK, Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock are on the away team, so I have the conn, and I hope to not crash the Enterprise.

So until JayJay gets back from Ballyshannon:

I've just posted this on the Facebook Rory Gallagher page, and like to share it here

Madrid - Teatro Monumental: Working for the spanish tour organizers, Clip Promotores.

Sometimes backstage work is hard but that was one of the days I really enjoyed my job, they were such a nice bunch of people
An unforgettable concert for a seventeen years old girl, as well as for all the audience that went crazy.

I remember the moment when with the lights off Rory and the band came on stage, in transit to an expectant crowd that anxiously expected to be part of the great experience a Rory Gallagher concert was.
During the gig someone from the amphitheater, shouted "In Your Town", his voice loud and clear and that was like a running of the bulls, such a madness. :D :D

I have the impression that some of our madness was into Rory because his interpretation of "Going to my hometown" was so fierce that he broke not one but two strings of his Mandolin.

My first Rory gig what an experience !!!, over the following twenty years some more arrived !!!!

----

I would add that when I first saw Rory my first thought was oh where has gone his long hair ? He looked so different
While talking at backstage he told the reason of that haircut, I didn't know he previously had done the Irish Tour and at some venues there were no showers.

 I know exactly what you mean, Rory was almost like a psychic conduit, his happiness and sheer exuberance flowed from him to the audience and back again, and the energy would build up. We, of the "old guard" who were lucky enough to see him back in the day, we have those memories to keep forever. 8-)

Thanks for sharing-

P.S. I tried to find a vid of the Madrid gig on this day, but couldn't.

I've seen hundreds of gigs, and YES Rory was one of the few musicians that reached "The Zone", that special feeling when you're on stage and energy flows from stage to audience and viceversa, making get your performance higher and higher level.
Sorry if I can't describe it better you must experienced it.

Sometimes I've thought that the fact of singing some acoustic song usually at the middle of the show, was like "well let's take a rest".

About Madrid 1974, unfortunately it wasn't recorded by tv, and neither I found anything at all :(
