Shandon Bells

Postby Annie Elliott » 17 Jun 2015, 23:45

When I was in lovely Cork I had the pleasure of ringing the Shandon Bells. Sadly, there were no Rory Gallagher tunes included in the selections. I wonder if they could be convinced to include one and, if so, which one would be appropriate? Tattoo'd Lady perhaps?

Do you mean there are bells that anyone can ring in this Church? Nice. Yes, Tattoed Lady would be great. I guess in my case I have to be very fast Before I get strangled or hanged.

Hmmm, thinking about Rory's songs and what would be suited to the church bells? Not something too rocking, or too bluesy, not for church bells, in my opinion.

but how about, There's a Light-

or Wheels Within Wheels

Yes, indeed anyone can play the bells and it's quite fun. You have to wear ear protectors and you're not supposed to yank hard on the bell pulls so it would be necessarily slow no matter the tune. But I think it would be so wonderful for Cork to hear Rory's music playing out from the tower from time to time.
