i'm proud of my little contribution to promote Rory

Postby innuendo » 13 Aug 2010, 14:26

i'm a saxon fan and there is a topic on saxon forum called Mad dan's Rawk & metal Show, it's about this guy who is big saxon/metal/rock fan and he has his radio show where he plays a lot of great rock/hard rock/metal music. he posts a playlist from his show about once a week and i asked him why doesn't he play and rory and queen songs. he replied: Yes you're right there, my fav Queen album is Sheer Heart Attack, Brighton Rock and stone cold crazy 2 classics, not played enough! Rory Gallacher as well another who's ot some rockin stuff that you don't get to hear too often!

I'll dig some out soon;-)

and in his last entry to that topic he posted a playlist from his last radio show and guess what-both rory and queen were played. so i'm proud of my small contribution to get rory on the radio. you can see that topic here (pages 5 and 6) http://forum.saxon747.com/showthread.php?t=3574&page=5

Good job my fellow Rory fan.....I saw MOONCHILD when I advanced pages.

Not much into heavy metal myself, except for old Sabbath. However I have had a big love of the Monster Magnet stuff. Trippy and spacey, but their beat and energy just get inside me and grow. I`ve got 6 or 7 of their releases. I hope Dave slays his dragons and goes on.

i would like people to write on this topic how they promote rory (maybe order a song on radio, tell a friend about him...). i have told some friends that are into rock about him. i gave one friend all rory's and taste albums in mp3 (and burned him some dvds) but haven't heard from him yet

I'm doing it all the time buddy, look on the "Rory Gallagher On Jukebox's" topic ..
Going to Brttiania pub right now,to put Rory & Taste songs on the Jukebox wearing Rory T shirt ;)
That is just one little example of dozens of things to promote Rory, every fan could possibly do ;)

I`ve given up on radio years ago....don`t even listen to it anymore. Most radio is automated and run by corporations. However, my wife`s cousin is in the process of opening up the first Irish Pub in our town(Quigley`s Pub) and once open(still obtaining legal liquor liscence), I hope to influence him to put some Rory on the walls and on the jukebox.

Nice work innuendo! Like Rick, I don't listen to radio - only time we used to do that much was all the years in the '70s and early '80s when we lived in my hubby's Essex home town, with great reception of Caroline, plus Luxembourg and Radio Nordsee International. Great stations. :D
Also don't go to any pubs.
But I do wear my Rory T-shirts often (but no name on them, just pics) and have a gallery of Rory pics as the screensaver on my work laptop. I just keep hoping someone will say 'Who's that then?' and their fate will be sealed! But so far, no-one's asked :x
Looks like I shall just have to come up with another cunning plan ....
