Of course they were pro musicians. Working with Rory they knew to expect the unexpected. As Gerry McAvoy has said before in interviews. Rory live and on stage would now and again surprise him. By playing something unexpected. Like a Byrds or a Beatles song. Even 'Sinnerboy' the once he said. Where even Gerry had a struggle to remember how that song went in the late 80's.

David and Richard had their chance if they knew " What's Going On " ;) 'Cause either at the end of that intro..

If they were on the ball and did know the song .. They only had to play.. Two notes for David on the bass .. or two beats on the drums for Richard .. ;)

Is that from his Riding Shotgun book? I might remember he said it.

Just a little bit step and probably they play it for crowd, for us. Dreams oh dreams... :)

Where I heard Gerry say this was in the documentary "Requiem for Rory" from Ulster TV
