Right Kickback,
Let's go through this Rockin' Rory song to know what it's all about ..

Rory Gallagher
KICKBACK CITY
Defender - 1987

They say this town will kill you,
They say this town ain't got no soul.
This town could take a child's smile,
And turn it into stone.
But don't you think I know that,
This place has cut me to the bone.
Trouble crawling up your back.
Fear just eats your soul.

You say this town will eat you up,
You say this town don't have a heart.
You try and learn all your lines,
And you try to play the part.

With all this double dealing,
I tell you brother, you get smart.
Here in kickback city,
You're lost before you start.

People in subways,
Look nearly half dazed to me.
Renting tomorrow, investing in sorrow,
No belief....yeah....

Faces in sidestreets,
Hiding like angels from grace.
Selling you sorrow, renting tomorrow,
You're out of place...yeah...

They say this town will kill you,
They say this town ain't got no soul.
They'll set you up and pull the stitch,
'Till you're unravelled on the floor.

But I won't let it beat me,
Though trouble's knocking at my door.
Somehow it's just your smile,
That keeps me coming back for more.

Yeah...

Here in Kickback City,
Feel I'm goin' down slow.
Here in Kickback City,
Feel I'm goin' down slow.

Yeah....

It's a story about a small time criminal who ends up bit deeper in it than he'd anticipated. Search the roryon.com interviews.

One could ponder the story behind those two for years. I have my theories . . . Wheels Within Wheels is exceptionally poignant. You can hear some real pain in that one.

Moonchild Lyrics and Rory explains the song. Subrata.x

You are a moonchild and pretty soon child i've got
that feeling that i'm gonna make you smile forever
if i can..just give me a sign and i show you my plan.
you are a blue child forever true child you know that i try to ,paint the sky blue forever if i can
just show me you're smile and i show you my plan.

O won't you tell me why you look so sad time slips
by like grains of sand just put you're future in my hands.

Tell me why, tell me why you look so sad, time slips by like grains of sand ,just put you're future in my hands

You are a mooonchild and pretty soon child i've got that feeling that i'm gonna make you smile forever if i can just give me a sign and i show you my plan ,just show me you're smile and i show you my plan, just give me some time and i'll show you my plan.

"The song [Moonchild] is sort of an open refrain to a fantasy woman I know. It also addresses itself to the child in all of us, the innocent in us, in me." -- Rory Gallagher

King of Zydeco lyrics and Rory's explanation of the song. x

Well, it's a straight line as the crow flies,
To a heaven here on earth.
And if you make time, it's a cool drive,
Head down to the coast.
If your taste runs to the gumbo,
Don't know where to go?
Let me introduce you to the King of Zydeco.

If your head leaks like a strainer,
The sea comes to your door.
A strange sound from the juke-joint,
A mile just down the road.
Believe it when you hear it,
The sound of the rubbing board.
Let me introduce you to the King of Zydeco.

Yeah

"King of Zydeco" is about a road movie. Some guy gets totally fed up with the big city, and wants to hit this musical juke-joint and see somebody like Clifton Chenier playing, away from the commercial pressures. -- Rory Gallagher
