So did I. John had the edge over Paul for me.
ten and more years ago lennon was my favorite musician. nowadays i like macca more, i mean i prefer his solo albums over lennon's, he had some not so good albums and macca was more consistent in the 70's.
I watched as fear took the old men's gaze Hopes of the young in troubled graves 'I see no day' I heard him say So grey is the face of every mortal
I can see the likeness to Lennon but on the cover of the Rockpalast DVDs I think there is a startling likeness to Jimmy Page, it's probably just the lighting through his hair but it gets me every time
[quote="JimLED"]no I better would say Rory looks like young Clint Eastwood!
Ok- I definitely see some John Lennon there, maybe Paul but not so much, and even occasionally Jimmy Page in some photos- but I definitely don't see Clint Eastwood. Rory was IMO exceptionally good looking. John Lennon wasn't hard on the eyes either. But Clint Eastwood just looks mean. No offense. I mean, even Dylan Moran looks more like Rory than Clint Eastwood. In my opinion
But I can't imagine Rory using this language tho
And I'm just talking physical likeness- musical styles and talent would be a whole other dimension, and Rory is too unique to compare in such a superficial way in artistic talent. But as far as physical resemblance, not just in photos but in videos, Rory and John definitely have similarities.
I read in interviews that Rory never actually spoke to John directly, but there is the famous story that Rory told of his Jerry Lee Lewis' encounter backstage in Los Angeles after John had unwittingly upstaged Jerry. I also read a quote from Donal where he said he and Rory saw John and Yoko at an airport, and Donal knew Rory would like to have gone over to speak to John, but was hesitant for some reason, as if it would be an imposition on John and Yoko- but I bet had he gone over to him they would have become friends- Lennon already respected Rory as a musician, he was even quoted in the press after seeing Rory in Taste. And who knows, musically they were quite different but Lennon was fairly gregarious and outgoing personality-wise as opposed to Rory's somewhat reserved private nature. If anyone could draw Rory out of his own world it would be someone as eccentric and goofy as John Lennon. And they probably would have had fun musically as well.
