For those who want the real answer rather than the flippant one - we met through work - I've worked in the music industry for almost 35 years, firstly as a musician, then music teacher and now in a business role.

I was an acquaintance not a friend. He did tell me some personal things such as he wanted at least one ... possibly two children, but no more. Sadly that was not to be. The last show of his I went to was in 1977. He did ask me to come to others in the late 1980s but I never went. He went on tour and didn't keep in touch. His gigs were too loud for me by then plus I thought he was too old for me! Additionally, his drinking was a concern. It didn't put me off really, I was more concerned that he was too old for me, 10+ years is a big age gap.

well, I´d say in younger years you don´t see it like that.
I can remember when I was 16, a 24-year-old guy asked me out, and all I thought was jeeez...he´s such an old geezer

when you're 20 and your love interest is 15 it can be a big difference cos of the young age and possible childish behavior of a younger party. but when someone is 30 and the other half 25 age makes a little or no difference.

Presuming that would have been when Rory was still alive, I would have been still underage and that´s why the blessing would have been needed
