Ulster Hall 1974

Postby whatistime » 05 Jul 2011, 21:19

I first saw Rory when my aunties boyfriend took me to the Ulster Hall in 1974, when I was 14 ... It was a favour to her but she did me the favour, we stood at the back and, to be honest, I remember it was all a bit loud but sounded kinda great. Rorys' music seeped into my bones that day and I've seen Rory in concert on and off for the remainder of his glorious time on this earth, mostly at that wonderful Hall in Belfast...... I live in Canada now and just watched a documentary (Arts and Minds) on the CBC promoting that very 1974 tour, remixed and enhanced... How the wheel spins !!!!! God rest you Rory, Deuce is still my favourite album, Rors, Ger and Wilgar were superb...... "not awake yet", "Don't know where I'm going".... Magic ... Good luck to you all, wherever you may be !!!!!

Hi Whatistime, a very warm welocome to the Rory forum.
Thanks to Rory playing at the Ulster Hall through those difficult times in Belfast in the 1970's and 1980's.
I thought you'd like to know they have dedicated a plaque for Rory outside the Ulster Hall there for all his concerts :)

welcome to the forum. it's always nice when fan introduced himself and says how he became a fan or even better- when he/she tells us about his first rory concert
I watched as fear took the old men's gaze
Hopes of the young in troubled graves
'I see no day' I heard him say
So grey is the face of every mortal
