I'm a newee

Postby paulG » 29 Mar 2011, 18:44

Hi everyone, just like to introduce myself to this board. I have been a fan of Rory since 1971, first saw him at a little club in Wellingborough with about 100 people, then a number of times at the Reading festival and once at the end of the seventies at the De Montford Hall Leicester.

He has always blown me away, i am a lifetime fan of the Stones, these are my number 1 band BUT I am so glad rory did not join them as I think he was better with his own band playing his own music. I moved to Cambridge at the end of the eighties and went to see him at the Cambridge Folk festival in the early ninties, when we arrived we were told he was not playing as he was ill, he died a couple of years later, far too soon. A friend of mine knows his brother and told me to ring him for a chat, never did.

I look forward to chatting on this board.

welcome to the forum paulG
I watched as fear took the old men's gaze
Hopes of the young in troubled graves
'I see no day' I heard him say
So grey is the face of every mortal
