Ballad Production by Ballad Black at The Barbican

On the 18th March 2016, I went to the Barbican to see a ballad production by Ballad Black company. I love the Barbican centre. Yes I had my graduation degree ceremony there in 1996, but it is a great theatre venue.
I was reading about Misty Copeland. She is an African-American ballad dancer and she was told at the age of 1, she was too old to be a ballad dancer and did not have the right physique. Well in 2015, she became the Principal dancer in Swan Lake! She is a very inspirational young woman. If anyone says "You can't", just say, "Watch me".
By synchronicity my Uni pal text me about Ballad Black at Barbican. So of course I went. My Uni pal Erica is right. Its not only great we are London girls but we have all this arty farty stuff on our doorstep. How lucky is that??
The production was wonderful. It had a mix of modern, classical and traditional ballad. It was emotional, beautiful, and exceptional.
What shocks me in the 21st century they still don't make ballad shoes for ethnic people. Well that's changing thank god.
The first ballad I saw was in 1984, Swan Lake at the Sadler Wells Theatre.
I have recently got more in touch with my classier, feminine, ladylike side. I don't know if it is maturity.
There is a great Cotes Restaurant there. I had French onion soup, courgette risotto with chocolate mousse for dessert. There is also a music shop at the Barbican. Subrata.x
