JAMES is a favourite Indie/hippy band of mine from the early 90s. First heard of them from my school/college BF friend Jenny in 1991. She loved Indie music and introduced me to it. My cousin Anjan introduced me to rock and another college pal introduced me to good pop. Jen and I loved hippy things and we were eco-warriors in the early nineties and complete veggies. She had purple hair and I sprayed mine green. LOL. She was a massive influence in my life and my early youth in the early 90s were fun. Looking back yeah we were young and innocent but it was a great time, even in the midst of bad times. James the band takes me back to that era in an instant and I love Tim Booths voice. He is a great performer. I love it when he does his trance dance on stage. I don't live in the past but I love to reminisce.
I know it was hard for Jen when I finally started to follow my true vocation in life in 2003, as it was hard for me about the course her life would take the same year but I want her to know I have never and will never forget those early carefree days. It laid the foundation of my life today and it made me who I am today. One day Jen you will understand my decisions.
These are my favourite James hits. I love Sit Down the most. We use to hear that on Jen's walkman and later portable CD player over and over again on cassettes! Now cassettes are a museum piece these days! But she would record the song over and over again on tape, so that she could hear it over and over again. I also love Sometimes and the video from 1993. Beautifully filmed.

Jen use to wear this James T-shirt with a flower in the middle. It is the JAMES emblem. I thought she looked so cool. She was good at art and would draw a cartoon of herself wearing the James single flower t-shirt
My college pal said on a Biology field trip to a farm, because the students were so bored in this jeep, Jen stuck a tape of Sit Down in the jeep's stereo and got everyone singing to it. But that was Jen - always uplifting. JAMES is a feel good band. I will write a book about the early 90s based on my friendship with Jen and the fun us students had. Some now say they feel the 90s was a good decade for music. Well there was a lot of good bands and songs coming out of our radios back then.
It is still a mystery when in 1992 we got our A-level results. You got exactly the same grade in Chemistry and Biology as me! I revised and you hadn't! Also it was your retakes. You got exactly the same grades as the year before where you had studied ! That baffled our tutors

We sat together during class. Even more hilarious we eco-warriors and anti-establishment ended up working for Civil Service!!

You will always be my "twin rebel" and as you said you will always be a "bad influence" on me in a good sense of the word.
My brother liked James too and the band does remind one of students days. We saw them at the O2 forum this year in May and what a show!! We had a great view sitting in cushion seats up in the balcony. Slow Readers ( I like the name

) were the support act. It was great show and I got dancing with everyone else much to my bro's embarrassment. LOL. But I felt great. Here are a few clips from the show:-
