I love this one. I remember hearing it when I was a little kid, then a few years later when I was a pre-teen, and the Stones covered it. But what I did not realize was that the original Don Covay version featured Jimi Hendrix on guitar! No wonder it has such a great opening riff!

This is an amazing iconic album by Junior Wells and Buddy Guy ( who is known as "the friendly chap"). Both Junior Wells and Buddy Guy had a musical partnership/marriage for 20years. Buddy Guy did say he saw Junior Well more then his own wife! A really beautiful album. I love Junior Wells harp playing and Buddy Guys guitar playing. I am so glad I have seen Buddy play guitar because he is awesome. Subrata.x

Blue Folklore is important. This album Brownie McGhee and Sonny Terry Sing by Smithsonian/Folkways is a favourite of mind. Blues songs do evolve and each artist brings their own unique style to it, like Rory did. Barry of Sinnerboy was doing an interview in Greece on a radio station, when he mentioned this album and its influence. I was ironing at the time. I listen to the blues and iron LOL! I love this but you will have to look for the other tracks yourselves. Subrata.x

John Henry is sung in a similar style to Rory's Out Of My Mind.

I've got a Pandora station, labeled "Rory Gallagher" (of course) and over time the program has been bringing music to me that I might not otherwise hear. One such artist is Gary Clark Jr.

One of my favourite Taj Mahal sessions. I am reading about his life and work. This is Queen Bee and Good Morning Ms Brown. They filmed it in New Orleans. Love the idea of riding in a horse and carriage or is it a mule?

Greatest Taj Mahal list.
Someone's great Taj Mahal playlist: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2B3EB6596E1BDAF9
Taj Mahal does World Vision music. He likes to experiment with different sounds, which interests me. He likes to play with Toumani Diabate, who plays the African Kora. This is a traditional African stringed instrument. Taj Mahal really knows about African root music, as well as the Blues.

Michael J Fox and Brownie McGhee with a blues in Family Ties show. Great moments.

Watch the full episode. It's great!
