Yeah, I still listen to Randy every now and then. Almost 30 years since his death, and he still makes the front cover of guitar magazines (this months Total Guitar). Its a pity that Ozzy doesn't release more Randy stuff. He waited 5 years before releasing Tribute album, 10 years before releasing any video footage (Don't blame me documentary), and he's only just released the After Hours and other footage on DVD (Blizzard 30th anniversary box set).

Hi Stevo and all
Here's my lists. I've hardly mentioned delta players, 'cos I'm still wading through it all.
I would say though, I like Freddy King way better than B.B. and Albert King. He's like 'the original Peter Green' - possibly better (that's saying something).
Sonny Black? He's a 'senior' UK blues / country player - check him out whilst you still can!
Don't forget John McGeoch - he stuffed every band he played with invention (PiL / Souxie & Banshees / Magazine).

Acoustic Guitarists
1 - Rory Gallagher
2 - Son House
3 - Jeremy Spencer
4 - Sam Mitchell
5 - Sonny Black

Electric Guitarists
1 - Rory Gallagher
2 - Frank Zappa
3 - Jimi Hendrix
4 - John McGeoch
5 - Peter Green

Bands
1 - Led Zeppelin
2 - The Prodigy
3 - Public Image
4 - System of a Down
5 - Massive Attack
what do you think of that?

John Lennon is a favorite of many musicians and songwriters. He comes up over and over again on lists of the best songwriters ever. He might be the best. On a tribute box set, Bermudian musicians found inspiration in his songs. Check out this tribute to John http://www.doublefantasybermuda.com/shop/

I think my list would be:

John Lennon
Paul McCartney
George Harrison
Rory Gallagher
Ritchie Blackmore

As to the first three I can never make up my mind whom I love the most as an individual artist.

Though, of course, there are many more musicians whom I like. :)

I’m sure many of you have been listening to quite a bit of John’s
music, as today he would’ve been 72. You may be interested in our
project, Bermudian artists commemorating the message and the music of
John.
