Innuendo you sly fox- that is a(Rory aside) a GROUP !

hehe what? that's my top 5. ok if i would do my list with only 1 member from each band than it would look something like this

1 freddie mercury
2 rory gallagher
3 paul mccartney (for quite a while i preferred lennon but now i prefer macca)
4 tony iommi
5 ronnie james dio

i know tony and ronnie were in the same band but ronnie didn't start his recording history with sabbath so that's why he's on my list

Hi JimLED, I would put Fogerty in my list also. He would be No 6. He has been at the top of his profession for over 40 yrs now and has never come up with a bad song. He has written some of the greatest rock'n'roll songs of all time, and is also a mean guitar player and great singer.
I think Born on the Bayou is one of the best songs of all time. It also amazes me how many films have CCR tracks featured either as part of the soundtrack or playing in the background. A great man too by all accounts.
cheers

i never really listened to fogerty solo career but i love ccr and it's good to see there are other fans of them here. i was quite surprised when i found out rocking all over the wold is his solo song although status quo has made it their own and i prefer their version.

Hi innuendo, Check out Fogerty's solo stuff. There are at least three DVD's available. "The Long Road Home" is the best, 28 great songs, and backed by a fantastic array of musicians. then there is "Premonition" which is very good, and then there is "Concert at the Royal Albert Hall" whigh is reasonable.
Have fun.

I could never narrow my favorite musicians down to 5. But I do love lists. Here are five of my favorites who normally don't make these kinds of lists, so I am giving them a shout out there.

Bill Nelson (Be Bop Deluxe)
Phil Manzanera (Roxy Music & more recently David Gilmour)
Jon Lord (Deep Purple)
Pete Way (UFO)
Jamie West-Oram (The Fixx)

Brian Robertson and Scott Gorham (Thin Lizzy)

I couldn't resist adding a 6th.

The order is purely random.
These kind of lists change daily for me.

Hi Stevo, nice to see Randy get a mention. He would have been something special had he still been around. Still play Ozzy's Tribute album a lot.
