This start was supposedly used in the 1972 period and Donal says there may be a slim chance it was once owned by Buddy Holly, I wonder what happened to it after that and how he got it in the first place?

Have never heard the story of this guitar and the possible Buddy Holly connection. Can somebody enlighten me?

It was in the Guitarist Magazine 'Rory's Glories' artical.
It's photo'd next to the 61 Strat.

The text from the artical reads.

Rory's 'Other' Strat
The 58 strat went on the first couple of American tours from 72 onwards. He got it from a guitar dealer in Texas called Robert Johnson, who Rory took a shine to straight away because of his name. It was meant to have been bought as a backup to the 61 strat to use if it ever started conking out. But as you can tell from the look of it, it hasn't had as much road wear. The guitar dealer at the time was intimating that it was a guitar that had once belonged to Buddy Holly. I don't know if that was really true but it was a big selling point.
