Type of Wood

Well, that song she's humming, could make my guitar start strumming?

Type of Wood

Hi, what type of wood was Rory's Strat ? I somehow assumed it was alder, then I saw someone say it was Ash and I am sure I have read somewhere that someone though the body could have been maple ???

Any help is appreciated as I am on the look out for a body to start a Rory Strat.

Thanks David, most of what I have read points to alder, and as luck would have it, I have a Fender body that had some very bad lacquer cracks and am in the process on taking the lacquer off and noticed one of the cracks were caused by a crack in the body where the 2 or 3 pieces of alder were joined so I have glued and clamped where the crack was, so I think that body may get used

In the guitar section of the main website, the quote from Rory says someone told him the body was maple.

Hi STevo, That is probably where I read it and that threw me as I have never heard of a Strat body being made of maple, but I guess someone somewhere has made one of that wood.
