hi there, 'from what I can tell 'Souped up Ford' is played in open A tuning with a capo on the third fret..
so I guess the song is in C then..you'll need to tune some strings up so it goes (low to high) e a e a csharp e
Be careful though, because as three of the strings will be getting tightened up. I wouldn't try this on an acoustic guitar with heavy strings (it might not like it).
Trying to learn this in normal tuning would be very difficult I think, tune your electric to open A and stick on the capo.
If you watch all the videos you can find of this song and study Rory's hand movements you'll definitely be able to figure out what he's doing...a lot of action will take place around the third and fifth frets, with lots of open strings. then similar ideas around the twelfth fret for the solo breaks should get you in the ballpark,
