Yes I did get the Rory Acoustic Song Book and when I opened it I was like OMG how will I ever learn to play it.
. However Rory always hinted at taking things stage by stage. No short cuts and especially with guitar playing. Five years ago I could not play a note and now I can. I feel comfortable at present with acoustic playing and I like finger style guitar. It suits me and i feel Rory would want me to stick at that.However I want to understand the electric as well. I am lucky that many musicians from Rory tribute bands have given me advise; Susie and her boyfriend; advice from music shops and colleagues at work. And mostly advice from Rory himself. His spirit guides me. I enjoying learning at my own pace, 40 mins a day. I have always had an affinity with strings instruments like the violin or harp. However the guitar is the instrument for me. Most members of my mother's family play an instrument, abeit mostly Indian instruments. Bengalis love art, literature and music. So I am happy to learn the guitar.
