Hi Boogie, great picture. So you finally found it!

This is a link to your post from 2012 when you posted a picture of your ticket from this gig, 24th August 1986.

You said in the post that you took some pictures and were going to search for them.

I replied to your post, with a picture my mate took of me and Rory after the gig when Rory came out to sign autographs.
Did you stay behind to get his autograph? You can see another two fans in the picture, in the queue to get an autograph.
Also, the two guys behind Rory - one could be Tom Jones, the promoter from Ayr and the other could be either Phil McDonnell or Joe O'Herlihy who were tour/sound managers for Rory.

I remember after this picture was taken I got the camera from my mate and Rory came out from behind the table and I took a group picture of Rory standing with my mate and about 10 fans who were still there. I must look out that picture. I always wondered if any of the fans in picture are on this forum and remember that night.

Here's the link to that post from 2012.

Hi Ailish

Yes Rory played Ayr Pavilion in 86 and I saw him there again in 88. That was the last time I saw him, 1988 at Ayr. I didn't get to speak to him that night because I had to leave straight after the show as my mate who was with me was working early shift the next day and we had to head off home, a 60 mile drive to Dumfries. Are you from Ayrshire? As you said little old Ayr. As Boogie said these Ayr gigs were probably a warm up prior to the Edinburgh Festival gigs.

I had stopped getting music papers in the 80's so finding out about Rory touring in the UK was a bit hit and miss. I think I found out about his Scottish dates via adverts in the Scottish Sunday newspapers.

Here's a couple of links to previous posts with some of my personal photographs from Blackpool and Newcastle in December 1974. I decided to share them on this forum for fans to see as they show Rory and the band in a relaxed mood off stage and not live on stage or posing for publicity shots.

Hi again Fenderbass,
Thanks so much for the links to those great photos! I'm from Glasgow originally but I live in Luxembourg now. I used to go to Ayr a lot as a kid. I think the last time I was there was in 2000. I noticed how much it had changed. God you are so lucky. I saw Rory at the Glasgow Apollo in 1978 and then kept missing his concerts after that. I didn't get any music papers in those days believe it or not, and I was a professional musician. However, the publicity for Rory's concerts wasn't particularly good in general, don't you think? Or maybe it was just my fault for not paying enough attention. In fact I think I just gave up because I just imagined I would never get to meet someone like him. I was so awestruck and in love, I think I subconsciously tried to forget him to save myself any heartache. Believe it or not, I did forget him for too long. I regret all that now, but you can't turn the clock back.
