Yes, the reference to Rory is completely unexpected in the context. Maybe the food editor of the NYT is a Rory fan who just decided to take an opportunity to promote him.

You beat me to it- in several interviews, Rory identified Mexican as one of his favs . He had good taste. :lol: And, I have often made Mexican food while listening to Rory. Adds a little extra spice. 8-)

ide note- The author suggests Bullfrog Blues. Perhaps Cajun food? Fried Frog's legs? No, I'll stick with chili rellenos and tacos.

It's from Kent Rollins Cowboy Cuisine. Out on the Western Plain, Kent had a dutch oven, some sliced potatoes and only a bottle of carbonated lemon-lime soft drink available as a cooking liquid. A recipe was born. Rory would approve, don't you think ?
