Rory UK Guitar Exhibition London 29/9/2018 to 30/09/2018

Breaking news! We're proud to announce that a dazzling collection of over 20 of the iconic guitars used by the late, great Irish bluesman Rory Gallagher will be exhibited in the Vintage Zone of the UK Guitar Show, on 29-30 September in London, including his famous '61 Fender Stratocaster, 1959 Fender Esquire, 1933 National Triolian Resonator and many more gems in a selection hand-picked by Rory's family. It's a very special tribute to Rory's musical legacy that no fan of his playing should miss.

We are also excited to welcome the guys from Seven Decades, who will be bringing their incredible collection of vintage guitars to the show. Alongside a brand new exhibition of their guitars and some amazing guitar memorabilia, the Seven Decades band will be performing Telecaster, Les Paul, and Stratocaster focused sessions throughout the day, all performed on some of the world’s rarest vintage guitars. Each day, the evening show will bring the curtain down on the Vintage Zone as they play music from their hit show and celebrate the virtuosity of players including Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Albert Collins, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and many more.

The Vintage Zone at the UK Guitar Show is across the road from the main Olympia building (next to Pizza Express) - keep an eye out for signage! Buy advance tickets to the show now from the UK Guitar Show website. http://www.ukguitarshow.com

Its my parents 46th Wedding Anniversary today and we are celebrating that and then I get this news. I am just so excited, over the moon and swinging from a chandelier. Rory's guitar will exhibited in London and the "love of his life", his beloved 1961 Strat will be on display and finally in 8 years I hope to get to meet her. I told our Rory Family of fans, friends and musicians in Cork at the South Douglas Bar in June 2018, how much I wanted to meet her! This is a dream come true for me as a Rory fan and for other fans as well. I am just so, so excited!! Yipee!!!!  I also met Norman Damery of Taste Mark 1 this year too. :0)
I am guitarist too, so there will be other guitars and shows. I will learn a lot. I hope to compose music with my brother in a year or too. This will help.
I have ordered my tickets . I was disappointed I could not see Rory's guitars or books at Cork Library and it was after the Cork Rocks For Rory and Ger 2018 festival. But hey they are all coming to "My Hometown" of London. OMG!!! London was also Rory's second home too. So, so happy!!! Yipee!!! Will let Susie know in a moment via Whatsapp.
I also have the biography book to look forward and Rory's commerative coin. Fantastic!!!
Rock On For Rory. We love you Rory. Susie and I love you. I love you. Subrata.xxxx
Massive thankyou to Donal, Daniel, Eoin and the Gallagher family for allowing this exhibition. And thankyou Rory! :0)

Thanks for the heads up with this Suby :)
Yes my memory is coming back to me now from last weeks Rory Gallagher Nantwich Festival. Where Eoin Gallagher did tell me about this exhibition among other exciting Rory related upcoming things, including a new RG album. Of which I did ask him not to give me the details, not to spoil the surprise of the content you see for when it will be released.

I hope this guitar exhibition is as successful as the last one in London which was at the Harrods store 2007 http://english.cri.cn/3086/2007/02/02/60@192098.htm

Yes and thanks a million to Donal, Daniel, Eoin and all the Rory Family for keeping the flag flying for Rory's great legacy :)

Hi Jay Jay,
I am going to faint in excitement now...a new RG album...WOW!!:0). Yes it would be nice to see Rory's family. We did see Eoin last year at the Cork Rocks For Rory and Ger 2017.
I just wanted to add its nice to see Rory's guitar and I touched two of his guitars in the last six years. That was magical enough. But I was never one of those people who actually saw him play his guitars live. Those fans who saw him play his guitars are the lucky ones IMO.
I will take pictures of the exhibition and I still have too post my Cork Rocks for Rory and Ger 2018 on the LT site. Subrata.x
Nice picture of Daniel playing his Uncle and Godfather 's Rory 1961 Strat. :0).

Will this be a once in a lifetime event that I could view the beloved Strat???

On this short notice I might be able to schedule something - but I might injure myself doing it!!!

I'm already planning to go to Ballyshannon 2020, I sure hope a similar exhibition could be set up then for the 25th anniversary of Rory's passing!!
Thanks!! ss

Its a pleasure Jay Jay. I am glad that you and Rory fans loved the photos. We went on a Saturday..yes the first day of the UK Guitar Show. It was packed. Especially the third floor, where there were quite a few guitar exhibits and guitar equipment on display. It was quite warm inside as well.

In Cork this summer, a guitarist called Tom, showed me and Susie a replica Rory Strat he made. It was fantastic. Barry played it. I held Tom's Rory replica Strat and said to Tom, I hope I meet the real Rory Strat one day. A couple of months later I did...a dream come true. Susie could not join me in London from Scotland but I sent her the photos via Whatapp and she loved them. The moment I sent the photos to Susie, she just put the TV on and this cBBCs childrens programme came on showing how to make a guitar! She watched it with her son. Rock On For Rory!!! Susie and I are fascinated how guitars are built. We love The Guitar Shop in Cork ( which Rory use to visit) on McCurtain Street, The owner builds his own guitars. He has his own workshop and it was a delight to listen to him as to how he made his acoustic guitars.

It was great to see other iconic guitars of Rory's as well.

Here is Rory, Ted and Gerry from Rockaplast 1979. Rory is playing Tattoo Lady on his beloved Strat. What a performance!! Takes your breath away. In those days they never held up android or I-phones, so people really got to hear the music with their full attentions on the night. :D

The exhibition was very educational. I went with a family member who loved it too.

I still have one dream that I would love to come true. I hope in another time and space, Susie and I will get to play guitar with Rory on stage one day. Whose knows.... fingerscrossed. ;)
