A Rory Song That Reflects You

Postby RobertaSparrow » 22 Aug 2017, 02:46

I recently completed the walk through Spain known as the Way of St. James, or the Camino de Santiago. Toward the end of the 780 Km walk you enter into the old town of Santiago de Compostela, and anyone who completes the last 100 Km on foot is given a certificate of completion from the Cathedral. You receive it as long as you have the Pilgrim's Passport stamped to document the last 100 Km was completed on foot, and for those who walked it just for the satisfaction of having completed it, it is a certificate of achievement. If done for spiritual or religious reasons, you get a slightly different certificate, but either way, the Cathedral issues it in your name as it would be in Latin, because the document is basically the same as has been issued for hundreds of years.

So my Compostela is issued to Cynthiam Dolorosam. My first name is based on the name of the goddess of the moon, so I would claim Moonchild, but that's just too easy.

My middle name is based on my grandmother's name, Dolores, which means Lady of Sorrows. Lady of Sorrows it is-

So, Sorrow is my middle name. ;) I choose middle name.

And which do you choose?

This is an interesting topic. I was going to go with "Walkin Wounded", but I think "Off The Handle " fits me better. So lookout!

It would be "I Fall Apart" and "I Admit Your Gone", because the words in Rory's song reflect how I felt after my heart broke with the then "love of my life" .I was a young girl and you felt your world had come to an end. It was one of the most painful, worst experience of my life. However I can see now my first love's soul taught me some valuable lessons in this life. Perhaps we agreed on this before coming into this world. The lyrics of both songs reflect my sorrow and grief at the time.

I FALL APART
Rory Gallagher - 1971

Like a cat that's playing with a ball of twine,
That you call my heart,
Oh but baby is it so hard,
To tell the two apart?
And so slowly you unwind me,
'Til I fall apart.
I'm only living for the hour,
That I see your face,
And when that happens,
I don't wanna be no other place,
'Til the end of time,
You'll be on my mind.

I don't mind,
Waiting for your love,
Borrowed time,
I've got plenty of,
Rain or shine,
Please bring out your love,
Make it shine,
Like the stars above.

I'm only living for the moment,
When I hear your voice,
Oh, I'm waiting,
I don't have any choice,
And the day is long,
So won't you come where you should be.

Like a cat that's playing with a ball of twine,
That you call my heart,
Babe, is it so hard,
To tell the two apart?
And so slowly you unwind it,
'Til I fall apart.

Rory Gallagher Lyrics

"I'll Admit You're Gone"
Rory Gallagher

I'll admit you're gone - when I think I'm able,
Just like in that song, you turned all the tables,
Now I know I'm wrong, life is hard to shoulder,
I won't last too long, each day is getting colder.
Falling constantly, shadows haunting me,
Moving silently, day by day,
Watching hopefully, waiting anxiously,
That you might hear me, someday.
That's what I pray,
That's all I pray,
I'm gonna be ok, it's gonna be okay.

Looking ahead, there's nothing but blue days,
But somehow I keep hanging on.
I should spend time looking for new ways,
'Cos blue days have taken quite a toll.

The journey we were on - can't believe it's over,
I can feel the storm, but I can't run for cover.
Where do I belong I just keep on searchin'?
I want to see the dawn of the day when stop hurting.

Falling constantly, shadows haunting me,
Moving silently, day by day.
Watching hopefully, anxiously,
That you might hear me, someday.
That's what I pray,
That's all I pray,
It's gonna be ok, I'm gonna be okay.

From that painful, dark time of my life, I picked myself up and literally grew into a strong, empowered woman. I rediscovered my spiritual and creative side. I am now using my life experience and lessons to help others. I learnt and am still learning so much. Its been an incredible journey of rejuvenation and healing.
That is why RG's "For The Last Time" reflects the path I have made after that painful episode. The lyrics are spot on. Especially the lines, "You put me down,
For the very last time,I hit the floor,But I got up on the count of nine,Goodbye, don't cry,When I'm gone".

For The Last Time
Rory Gallagher

You've done me wrong,
For the last time,
You've sung your song,
Now I'm going to sing mine,
Out loud, so loud,
Like the roaring sea.

You've played around,
For the last time,
You've shown your claws,
Now I'm going to show mine,
Watch out, I'll be about,
In the night.

You ran around,
Since the very first day,
You've had your moment,
Now I'm gonna have my play,
So long, I'll be gone,
In the night.

You put me down,
For the very last time,
I hit the floor,
But I got up on the count of nine,
Goodbye, don't cry,
When I'm gone.

And yes I did forgive him in the end. I had,to in order to move forward. He gave me also the gift of accepting myself and letting my light shine. Subrata. x
