I love this video. Alternate version of Live In Europe'72 Amazing band playing!
Listening and watching this clip again and again I had found that Rory use pennie (or other metal coin like bitcoin etc)) instead of plastic plectrum in his hand, like Brian May do. Now I'm hearing the metal source of that sound!

Hey Jim that's not at all a bad penny spot.. if you pardon the pun.. thanks buddy..

Wonder if Brian did take that on board?.. Or on the boards (stage) as he did with Rory's sound.. As he says " I owe my sound to Rory Gallagher" :)

Rock On for Rory

Btw Jim,

It looks more like an old silver sixpenny piece in Rory's hand.. all pennies older and newer ones are all copper based ;)

Could even be a dime ? ... Penny for your thoughts guys & girls??

Well, I guess it would depend on which nation's coin he happens to have in hand. If American coinage, would likely be a nickle or a quarter. Those would be my best guess for a suitable pick size.

Sorta, kinda a change of topic-

Here's a song Dave Grohl wrote for his band mate/leader of his former band Kurt Colbain. But it could as well be for Rory. Friend of a Friend.

"He plays an old guitar,
With a coin found by the phone.
It was a friend's guitar,
that he plays . . . "
