Rory Gallagher Corner, Dublin In Sad Condition in 2017

Postby SUBY1974 » 16 Jun 2017, 11:28

The Rory Gallagher Corner,in Dublin is in a sad state.
With Cynthia's permission, I have included her picture here. She recently visited Dublin. It's sad to see the Rory Replica Strat in a sad condition. It needs to be refurbished. Also Hot Press has a poster here. You can hardly see Rory and The Macroom Festival picture on there! Yet Rory supported Hot Press for years!!
If RG fans could just e-mail Dublin Council, Temple Bar Cultural Trust and Hot Press and bring this disgraceful situation to their attention at least! Its such an insult to Rory's memory!! Cynthia and I have also posted this to other RG FB sites . Something needs to be done. Hope this starts the ball rolling!
I feel Dublin could do more for Rory's memory! I mean when I was there in 2000 and 2013 U2 was everywhere, yet Rory was Ireland's first true international rock musician!! Subrata.x

Thanks for bringing this to our attention Cynthia.

Thank you Suby. I took that photo after I'd completed my pilgrimage on The Way of St. James in Spain. I was on a brief stop-over before proceeding to Ballyshannon, and had in mind to take that walk through Temple Bar in Dublin to take in the air of influence that Rory surely must have left upon Dublin, and in the Temple Bar area in particular. I was a bit stunned to find so little evidenced there, and with a couple of exceptions, the things I did find were more symbolic of a precious memory being allowed to fade.

Yes I have sent the e-mails. Let's see what happens next. Well Done for completing The Camino. I finished reading Sonia Chochette journey on the Camino. Made me think about my own spiritual path. Sonia happened to be at the same MBS event I was at in May in London. Subrata.x

You can just about see Rory Gallagher and Macroom Festival on the Hot Press poster. I had to magnify it!! Subrata.

The way that inset was placed just broke my heart. Rory supported Hot Press. The symbolism of it was too much.
