Rory and Springsteen

Rory mentioned in some of his interviews that (among others) admires Bruce Springsteen.
For example in
Photo-Finish Tour Interview
"Bruce Springsteen, who I admire greatly, is so honest and open about things. He has been such a great rock fan for years and does his own thing".
"Springsteen is a hard-working guy, but you just don't say he's a hard-working guy, because he is a great talent".

I think same words that someone could say about Rory.
They had some more things in comment like they
were raised Catholics, both guitarists, songwriters and performers.
Very energetic and passionate on stage with very long live performances.
Always true to their music ,hard working ,far from the media games.
I wonder ... did they ever meet ?
Did ever Rory played a Springsteen's song on stage?
I don t know but i don t think he never did.
What do you think is there a Springsteen's song that Rory would like to perform?

That's very interesting. I really don't know if they ever met, but I went through a Springsteen phase in the early 80s. I've always liked him and his music, but I recently (a few years ago) bought an album by him and I wasn't terribly keen on his new stuff. It's all rather sullen. I still think he's great though, and yes you have to admire him. Although both he and Rory were different in that Springsteen was more successful (he made hit records after all) and is known worldwide, and I do think he was a lot more mainstream. His music is very American.

I think a better question would be - would Springsteen ever play a Rory song on stage??

Any guesses on which song he could cover best??
Thanks!! ss

In my opinion a Springsteen s song performed by Rory would be improvement for the song. But what Bruce can do better to a Rory s song ?

I can see Springsteen doing Sinner Boy or Daughter of the Everglades. Not better than Rory, but I think he'd do either song justice.

Not so much that he could do any of Rorys's songs better, but in covering one of Rory's songs he could bring Rory's music back to the limelight. I would like to hear Bruce cover Overnight Bag.

I like this version, but the tape is running a tad faster than it should, IMO.

I like the guitar solo on the above version, but the vocals don't sound quite right to me, sounds like the vocals, the tape sound wrong, like that track was recorded at the wrong speed and forced to fit.

I like Rory's singing on this one:

Never understood all the excitement re Springsteen ,but each to his own ,sort of Born In The USA parts 1 to infinity
certainly think RG could have improved on some of BS's songs though.

Springsteen always too dour for my taste. In the same genre, much prefer Bob Seger.
