What song is this?

Postby Santos89 » 23 Nov 2015, 20:24

Hi everyone,

I've just recently discovered Rory Gallagher, and it's been quite a mindblowing trip. What a fantastic songwriter and guitarist.
I was checking out a video where his nephew shows his guitars, and noticed the music during the intro. It sure sounds like Rory's tone and playing.
Does anyone know what song it's from?

Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcOOe5un3KA

It's the bit from 0:08-0:40

Hope you can help.

Thanks

Hi Santos and a very warm welcome to Rory's family forum :)

Great first post & Good question.. I for one don't know this tune?. It doesn't sound like Rory to me? As the guitars are overdubbed on this recording?
I'm sure someone on the forum will know this tune.
Meanwhile I'm glad you discovered our great guitar hero's music and legacy :)

Rock On for Rory

Well, it's definitely not Rory. My guess is its just some generic filler. Strange they did'nt use a Rory tune.

I agree, it sounds like Bad Penny and not unlikely that it is Rory. Ask Daniel Jay Jay.

Well not to argue the point, but "Bad Penney", goes D to F to C back to D, major and minor aside. ;) This song goes E to D to C back to E, again major and minor aside. ;) It's like a Rory song, but not quite.

As capo says it ain't Bad Penny.

It sounds more like a Joe Bonamassa type tune / sound to me?

Hi Irishcelticgirl, I'll let the topic go on another week or so 'cause some member must know on this forum, the artist and tune surely?
If not after a week or so without an answer, I will ask Daniel ;)

IMO it is as Capo said, some generic filler, not Rory at all.
