Re: Belfast Telegraph - Rory fans bid for Rory statue in Bel

Postby Tibbierocks » 11 Mar 2015, 09:34

when I'm talking about Rory to people, most never know who he is, and I tell them he's got statues in Ireland and he's been on a stamp over there and he's a national hero for playing in Belfast during the troubles. Will be great to get another statue. I have a french friend and she knew who Rory was because she lives in Paris and there's a street named after him.

Rory statue at Ulster Hall

Postby Irishcelticgirl » 14 Oct 2016, 23:49

It looks hopeful that, subject to approval by the local planning committee in Belfast, a statue of Rory will be erected in front of the Ulster Hall.

Wonderful news! The planning committee in Belfast, last night, gave the go-ahead for a statue of Rory to be erected outside of Ulster Hall.

RORY certainly deserves to be honored in Belfast with a statue..
As he was a musical hero to the folk in the north of Ireland, at the height of their terrible troubles throughout the 1970's.
RORY playing to 2000 overjoyed fans at sellout Ulster Hall in 1972.

Very good pose for the statue!! Outstretched arms welcoming us all!

I really wouldn't want a repeat of him on the guitar like in Ballyshannon!
,...... ( as much as I love it! )

Thanks!! ss
