Is there the story of Maritime?

Postby JimLED » 24 Apr 2013, 14:36

Interesting song, jentle melody. Interesting what Rory has as an image in his mind when he composed it. And why he did it too short?

Hi Jim,
The short tune at the end of vinyl Irish Tour '74 album, maybe related to the place / venue in Northern Ireland where Rory / Taste used to perform. As the picure of plaque says above. The original building does not stand there anymore. Here below is an old picture of the Maritime Hotel / Club.

I think it sounds a little sad, whistful, and sounds like something he should have developed further IMHO. I suspect he was thinking back on the better times with Taste. And again, it always makes me think of Sleepwalk. It isn't a copy or a rip-off, it just has something of that flavor about it.

'Cept it's an instrumental, so there are no lyrics per se. ;)
