Just a note that Daniel Gallagher wrote here in this magazine that was put on another topic.
I thought someone would have picked up this when I asked these questions ..

It's about .. A Million Miles Away on Tattoo and Rory's brilliant sax playing :)

Thanks, Jay Jay and Jim!!

My regret is not listening to A Million Miles Away from the Tattoo album online (I don't have that one yet). I thought I heard it near the beginning of Tattoo'd Lady. Oh well, thanks again. It' s been fun and a great way to get people to learn more details about Rory and his many versions of the songs and albums. I really didn't think a sax would be on that track!!
Cheers,

Jay Jay, thanks for Calling our attention to that interview with Daniel again--his comments about Deuce bring to mind an article that appeared in Guitar Player back in the nineties, I believe. It was a brief interview with the engineer on Deuce who shared his memories of working with Rory on that album. He spoke about the very simple setup and the raw energy Rory went for. And... does this sound familiar in light of NFSF... the engineer thought he would do a trial mix to impress Rory, with all kinds of flanging etc... and Rory came in and hated it! Of course the raw, stripped down vibe was exactly what he wanted in the first place. That record still sounds wonderfully in-your-face, like you're sitting with the musicians. Brilliant.

I kept that issue for years and would gladly transcribe the article but it was swept away in a flood a couple years ago, alas. Can't recall the year/month of the issue, but it was accompanied by a nice concert pic of Rory.

Regards,
Richard

good idea, i might do that. when it's custom made does the picture wear off or gets destroyed in the washing machine?

Yes Kruno .. try not to get it too dirty and when you do wash it "always turn it inside out" before you put it into the washing machine ;)
