No, I definitely was NOT that girl! I think my boyfriend would have left me if I had been that girl

I suppose I remember so much about this girl because in those days I was very interested in people generally, probably as a defence mechanism, particularly girls older than me who I used to copy to try to fit in! Fitting in means less threats as you become less noticeable  Perhaps I should have got Will Freeman (Hugh Grant in Nick Hornby's 'About A Boy') to buy me a pair of expensive trainers and a CD Walkman

I still have a bad habit of 'identifying and cataloguing' people  I even do it on the train to work to pass the time  I've just read a thriller by Stella Rimington (former Head of MI5). In it, she describes the observational techniques used by spies to suss people out ... Some of us (usually ladies  ) do it as a matter of course

I still laugh at the idea of Rory being a spy! No-one that good looking would ever have gone unnoticed ;)

I always learn things I never knew before while reading this site- British slang in particular. The only reason I knew what snogging meant was because they use the term in "Harry Potter," and my daughter got me into those books. (The American equivalent, snogging= getting to first base). I had to google the term "suss".

Re: Jim's questions:
Flamenca, you've say that couldn't recognize the band who were play before Rory but you clearly remembering every detail of the girl's dress, colour of her hair etc.
How is that can be that you're forgot the name of the band that played before?

I first saw Rory supporting Osibisa when I had only just turned 13 years old.
The things we got up to back then were typical teenage pranks for that era, in that social setting - the rough side of Liverpool!

Whenever I saw Rory play he was so much better than the other acts that they just didn't leave much of an impression, except for when KISS opened for him, and that's because they were awful.

Maybe you were that girl? :)
There were 2 other girls, could you not have been the other one? The one too shy to stay?

And, re: "No, I definitely was NOT that girl! I think my boyfriend would have left me if I had been that girl

Had it been me, I'd have taken one look at my then-boyfriend, then another look at Rory, and, well, he wouldn't have had to ask twice. But I digress- I wouldn't have had the nerve to go up there in the first place! And again, it was a wonderful post- a happy Rory memory-

I know full well that Susie of Seafieldfoxes and myself would not hesitate for in a fraction of a millisecond to choose between Rory and our current partners. They will be instantly dumped!!
